EC Harris interns impress

EC Harris's three interns are already making a big impression. Amy Preston, Senior Graduate Recruitment and Development Consultant at EC Harris, explains...
‘As China is one of our largest emerging markets, the Programme is a good fit with our key business drivers of mobility and internationalisation. We also supported the initiative because we are keen to encourage new talent into the industry.
We took on three interns, who started in April, and will return to China in October. We recruited two interns to work as project managers – one based in Milton Keynes and one based in London – and one to work as a quantity surveyor.’
Building relationships
‘Developing relationships between the UK and China is vital to our business, and was one of our key objectives when deciding to get involved in the Programme.
We wanted to give our interns the opportunity to learn the ways in which EC Harris works, in the hope that they will take this knowledge back to China. We are hoping to offer our interns permanent roles with EC Harris when they return to China.’
Impressive performance
‘The interns have been absolutely outstanding. In particular, we have been impressed by their enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and attention to detail. They have fitted in really well, and have been keen to socialise with their teams. One of our interns, Snowey, represented EC Harris at the World Corporate Games – and won a medal for table tennis!’
Returning to China
‘We are hoping to offer our interns permanent roles when they return to China, as they have been working on programmes of work that are in line with the work we conduct in Asia, including work we do with our largest client in Asia, HSBC. This experience will be directly relevant if they decide to join EC Harris permanently.
For us, the main benefit of the Programme is how it has enabled us to both expand the culture within our businesses, and give graduates the opportunity to experience our culture and see how we work.
Based upon performance of our interns, we would definitely support the Programme again. We would recommend the Programme to other graduate recruiters – without a doubt!’
